{"id":355,"date":"2008-01-31T19:12:07","date_gmt":"2008-01-31T19:12:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/astraea.net\/blog\/?p=355"},"modified":"2008-01-31T19:12:07","modified_gmt":"2008-01-31T19:12:07","slug":"bt-notes-getting-the-year-started","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astraea.net\/blog\/bt-notes-getting-the-year-started\/","title":{"rendered":"BT Notes: getting the year started &#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>2008 has started gently here at Ballin Temple.\u00a0 Getting back into the daily\u00a0 routine once the children were back in school was not a high priority.\u00a0 In fact there may have been a bit of a sense of wanting a holiday once they were back in school!\u00a0 Despite that, everything seems to be moving along well.<\/p>\n<p>The garden is in pretty good shape.\u00a0 The last of the beetroot and parsnip have been harvested.\u00a0 Seeds are in stock and we&#8217;re starting to plant.\u00a0\u00a0 Vegetable beds need a bit of preparation but the cool weather has kept growth down.\u00a0 That has allowed some more clearance in the woods and other maintenance, like harvesting sand from the stream and rebuilding part of the shed roof (blown off in a winter storm).<\/p>\n<p>Yoga classes have started up again and seem to be getting more popular.\u00a0 Tuesday at Teach Bride 8pm and Thursday at Mount Wolseley at 7.30pm.\u00a0 The course is nearly half way and the Easter break is a bit earlier than normal so please check the schedule with Pam (059 9155037) if you want to join.<\/p>\n<p>The mountain biking is great now.\u00a0 With ground cover well down, wood access is easier.\u00a0 Wet weather can make the slopes a bit more challenging, but those dry sunny days are spectacular.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll try to put some snaps online next month.<\/p>\n<p>We have been amazed by the continued generosity of our local community through the holiday season.\u00a0 At the beginning of December we had a reception to introduce <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pestalozziworld.com\/\">PestalozziWorld<\/a> and since then it has received many donations and commitments.\u00a0 It had been unexpected, and is very welcome, especially as the economy seems to be slowing.\u00a0 For those interested, the new facility in Zambia is now being developed and work in Malawi is beginning &#8211;
