{"id":2761,"date":"2015-06-23T23:00:58","date_gmt":"2015-06-23T23:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/astraea.net\/blog\/?p=2761"},"modified":"2015-06-24T12:11:11","modified_gmt":"2015-06-24T12:11:11","slug":"cosmic-synchronicity-in-a-hay-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astraea.net\/blog\/cosmic-synchronicity-in-a-hay-field\/","title":{"rendered":"Cosmic synchronicity in a hay field."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We baled today.\u00a0 It was wonderful.<a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/astraea.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/hayman.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2767\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/astraea.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/hayman-150x150.jpg?resize=150%2C150\" alt=\"hayman\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.astraea.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/hayman.jpg?resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 150w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.astraea.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/hayman.jpg?zoom=2&amp;resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.astraea.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/hayman.jpg?zoom=3&amp;resize=150%2C150&amp;ssl=1 450w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It started a bit later than planned because the normal school run delay was compounded by an emergency breakdown of a client&#8217;s computer .,..<\/p>\n<p>The field was rowed around noon and then square baling started.\u00a0 Padraig would arrive at 3pm to round bale.\u00a0 I needed 200 square bales for 2 customers who each wanted 100.<\/p>\n<p>The baler was acting up.\u00a0 The knots weren&#8217;t holding and a bale in every five would be lost.\u00a0 Noel cleaned the knotter and after a couple of rows it loosened up and ran better.<\/p>\n<p>Still it wasn&#8217;t easy to guess how much hay would equal 200 bales &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/131643777?byline=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"362\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>In the end we baled 241 square.\u00a0 Padraig got 38 round.<\/p>\n<p>One customer took 136 by mistake, and paid for the extras too.\u00a0 The other took his 100.\u00a0 And there were 5 left for us.\u00a0 Unbelievable.\u00a0 By pure chance we split the field precisely in the right place to get the square bales the customers wanted without leaving anything in the field to await the rain.\u00a0 It couldn&#8217;t have been better if it had been planned!<\/p>\n<p>Very lucky.\u00a0 Or maybe we&#8217;re leaning to feel the rhythm of the universe and surf the cosmic wave&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I must have been on a roll because a similar coincidence occurred\u00a0 in the evening.\u00a0 #4 wanted to watch an inappropriate film that was playing for his elder siblings &#8230; Having said &#8220;not for you&#8221;, about half an hour later I had a feeling he might have ventured in to\u00a0 join his brother and sister, so\u00a0 I checked.\u00a0 He had walked in 10 seconds before I checked!<\/p>\n<p>The cosmic rhythm can be useful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We baled today.\u00a0 It was wonderful.
