{"id":2668,"date":"2015-04-23T20:24:01","date_gmt":"2015-04-23T20:24:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/astraea.net\/blog\/?p=2668"},"modified":"2015-04-23T20:24:01","modified_gmt":"2015-04-23T20:24:01","slug":"you-cant-outrun-a-bad-diet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astraea.net\/blog\/you-cant-outrun-a-bad-diet\/","title":{"rendered":"You can&#8217;t outrun a bad diet!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The message is getting through.\u00a0 Sugar is bad.\u00a0 Bad for your body.\u00a0 Bad for your mind.\u00a0 Maybe even bad for your soul.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">In an <a class=\"story-body__link-external\" href=\"http:\/\/bjsm.bmj.com\/lookup\/doi\/10.1136\/bjsports-2015-094911\">editorial<\/a> in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, three international experts said it was time to &#8220;bust the myth&#8221; about exercise.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">They said while activity was a key part of staving off diseases such as diabetes, heart disease and dementia, its impact on obesity was minimal.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to loose weight jogging isn&#8217;t going to help.\u00a0 You must say NO.\u00a0 You have to reduce the calories.\u00a0 You burn about the same whether you&#8217;re walking or running and that&#8217;s about the same as standing too.\u00a0 Yes sitting all the time will burn far fewer calories than standing, but if you want to lose the tub, reduce your intake.<\/p>\n<p>Rules of thumb: 2,000 calories per day.\u00a0 Carbohydrate (potatoes, pasta, bread etc) and protein (beans and meat)\u00a0 ~ 400 calories per 100 grammes.\u00a0 Fat &#8211; 900 calories per 100 grammes.\u00a0 So you max out around 500 grammes or half a kilo.\u00a0 In a day not a meal &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s more.\u00a0 Sugar is more addictive than cocaine.\u00a0 (Watch <a href=\"http:\/\/fedupmovie.com\/#\/page\/home\">Fed Up<\/a>.)\u00a0 So it clearly messes with your mind and saying NO to cakes, cookies, biscuits, bars, chocolate, soda pop, etc becomes harder as you enjoy it more regularly.\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t just rot your teeth.\u00a0 It rots your blood vessels and organs.\u00a0 Cut back o sugar and you&#8217;ll feel better.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m\u00a0 no saint, so I know it&#8217;s not easy.\u00a0 But the best time to say NO is in the shop because if you don&#8217;t buy the cake, chocolate or soda pop, you don&#8217;t have to resist later &#8211; it&#8217;s just not there.\u00a0 Good luck! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body__h1\">BBC: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/health-32417699\">Exercise &#8216;not key to obesity fight&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The message is getting through.\u00a0 Sugar is bad.\u00a0 Bad for your body.\u00a0 Bad for your mind.\u00a0 Maybe even bad for your soul.
