{"id":1393,"date":"2011-02-25T20:27:49","date_gmt":"2011-02-25T20:27:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/astraea.net\/blog\/?p=1393"},"modified":"2011-02-25T20:27:49","modified_gmt":"2011-02-25T20:27:49","slug":"at-least-weve-got-a-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astraea.net\/blog\/at-least-weve-got-a-vote\/","title":{"rendered":"At least we&#8217;ve got a vote."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ireland is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-northern-ireland-12574516\">going to the polls<\/a> today.<\/p>\n<p>I voted for 19 people.\u00a0 Just because I could.\u00a0 It might not affect the outcome, but at least I know what it feels like to vote.<\/p>\n<p>Of course we vote everyday with our wallets and mouths, but that exercise in pseudo-democracy is worthwhile.<\/p>\n<p>At least we&#8217;ve got a vote.\u00a0 Even if its only to choose which bunch of criminals screw it up this time.<\/p>\n<p>Look at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-12482297\">Algeria<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-middle-east-12315833\">Eqypt<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/world-middle-east-12307698\">Libya<\/a> &#8211; people are dying to get the vote.\u00a0 Literally.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ireland is going to the polls today.
