HS must adapt behaviour to be cooperative.
A sustainable system prices natural resources and pollution such that
- harvest rates for renewable resources (e.g. plants or fresh water) are lower than regeneration rates
- pollution emmitted is completely assimilated or recycled by nature in the close locality within a short period
- non-renewable resources may only be exploited if their exploitation does not impact or endanger any biosystem.
This is is beginning to happen as consumers change behaviour.
HS must change consumption patterns to a cooperative, rather than a competitive, approach to resource management.
