• A sustainable system prices natural resources and pollution such that

• • harvest rates for renewable resources (e.g. plants or fresh water) are lower than regeneration rates
  • pollution emmitted is completely assimilated or recycled by nature in the close locality within a short period
  • non-renewable resources may only be exploited if their exploitation does not impact or endanger any biosystem.

• This is is beginning to happen as consumers change behaviour.

• HS must change consumption patterns to a cooperative, rather than a competitive, approach to resource management.
