Acknowledements

The ideas here are not just Astraea's. Initially we felt that pollution and unfairness were not good and were unnecessary, but being cynical, did not want to compromise our fine lifestyle. Who would? That was a few years ago. Now we have been to the edge of humanity (living at the edge of hunger, thirst, cold, hard work for little pay etc) and back and also seen people living within nature and playing life with a globally responsible ethic.

Here we have put together a "data dump", a "pile of information" to allow you to see one whole picture of the human world and how it sits within the natural world. Our thoughts are drops in the river of human thought and we're just going with the flow, but it seems that we are part of a growing tributary and that affects long term personal and business planning. We hope you enjoy and benefit from this resource.

People have said that it's nice to have these ideas all in one place. That was one of the main motivations for Astraea.net - to put them together to reveal THE BIG PICTURE. Not all ideas or philosophies or technology are here, but enough are presented to define a complete picture in the mind's eye of where humanity is, where it has come from and where it may choose to go. It is a wonderful picture showing great opportunities and revealing dangers we face in our life on earth.

Astraea.net is more than a presentation of ideas. We offer a physically disparate community (in the noosphere). Those that have empathy with this state of mind will enjoy engaging with Astraea. As you wish, if you please.

How Astraea Happened

The rationale behind Astraea has been years in the making. Slips of paper with ideas scrawled across them and sitting in files at the bottom of boxes. Scaps of articles bundled together. Books and discussion at schools. Experiences doing business in North America, Europe and Asia. Living with all kinds of people - many different colours, shapes, sizes and ages, many beliefs, rich and poor - a rainbow mosaic of human nature. Enjoying movies, music and news. All piling up in an amorphous mass of knowledge and emotion saying "WATCH OUT, do the right thing the right way" but yearning and needing to be made presentable.

Then we had a chance to put them together and we realised that the internet is the place to present them for all. The bulk of ideas are here now and we invite you to browse Astraea.net. Our efforts are towards filling in the few gaps and adding more interactivity. For now, here it is, a work in progress to be shared by all. And it's free!

Ideas we present come from education, news and entertainment media, friends, family, professional and social experiences. Links suggest further points of reference.
